Vegan Layered Avocado Shakes

Updated: Jul 29, 2021

If you think these taste like avocados, think again. #chocolatefix

Notes from the LHTC Team:

I'm always looking for ways to make my smoothies more creamy and luscious (read: more milkshake-like). Frozen bananas are a great way to achieve that goal, however they tend to add a banana flavor (obvi.) - and that's not always what I'm going for, especially in the chocolate mint layered "shake" detailed below. In this case, a cubed and frozen avocado actually works perfect. Creamy and smooth texture with a very mild flavor that is completely masked by chocolate, mint, strawberries or whatever your flavor of choice may be.

Layered Avocado Shakes

Servings: 2-4

For the Chocolate Layer

1 Avocado, cubed and frozen

1 - 1.5 cups Milk (Soy, Almond, your choice)

1/4 cup Vegan Cocoa Powder

1/2 teaspoon Vanilla Extract

1-2 teaspoons Stevia or other sweetener, to taste

Pinch Salt

For the Strawberry Layer

1 Avocado, cubed and frozen

6 Strawberries, sliced and frozen

1 - 1.5 cups Milk (Soy, Almond, your choice)

1-2 teaspoons Stevia or other sweetener, to taste

OR for the Mint Layer

1 Avocado, cubed and frozen

1- 1.5 cups Milk (Soy, Almond, your choice)

1-2 teaspoons Stevia or other sweetener, to taste

1/4 teaspoon Mint Extract

Optional Garnishes

Vegan Chocolate Syrup

Vegan Sprinkles (some are not, so double check the ingredient list)

Fresh strawberry slices

Fresh Mint Leaves

Vegan Coconut Milk Whipped Cream

DIRECTIONS

1. For any of the above recipes, simply throw all ingredients into a Vitamin, NutriBullet or other blender and blend until smooth. To layer, make two recipes separately and then alternately pour into cups, in 2-3 layers each.
