Kids Will Love Making These Pepperoni Pizza Pinwheels

Updated: Apr 2, 2020

Looking for ways to entertain the kids at home? These pizza pinwheels are a great way to start teaching kids to cook and make a great meal or snack, too.

Notes from the LHTC Team:

These pinwheels are made using pre-made puff pastry from the freezer section, which this project easier than ever. The filling can be switched up too! We used parmesan and pepperoni - but try adding a little pesto, tomato paste, mozzarella cheese - or even do a classic ham and cheddar combo instead of pizza.

Pizza Pinwheels

Servings: 2-4 | Prep time: 20 Minutes

Ingredients

1 Sheet Puff Pastry, thawed

2 tablespoons Olive Oil

1 1/2 cups Parmesan Cheese, finely shredded

3 oz Pepperoni, chopped

Directions

1. Preheat the oven to 400F. Roll out the puff pastry sheet to a 10 by 16-inch rectangle on a silpat mat or large piece of parchment.

2. Brush puff pastry evenly with olive oil.Sprinkle with parmesan and chopped pepperoni. Roll up starting from the long side.

3. Slice into 1/2-inch pinwheels and place on silpat or parchment lined baking sheet, about 1/2-inch apart.

4. Bake 15-17 minutes, until golden brown and puffed.

Tip:

To keep pastry pinwheels from puffing too much and unrolling while baking: be sure to place 1/2-inch apart on baking sheet with seams facing toward each other. As the bake and rise, they will end up touching each other - being close keeps them from completely unraveling. Simply separate pinwheels with the edge of a spatula after baking
