Ready to hop aboard the Oat Milk train? Healthy, dairy-free and costs pennies to make. Give it a shot and serve with your favorite cereals and hot drinks.
Notes from the LHTC Team:
Here's the thing, oat milk tastes pretty much just like oatmeal. It's great when sweetened with a little honey or stevia and flavored with some vanilla. Our tip: when straining the oat milk towards the end of the process, don't squeeze or press the oats as that can give your milk a slimy consistency - just allow the liquid to drain naturally. Try your oat milk in your next bowl of cereal or as a dairy-free creamer in your coffee.
DIY Homemade Oat Milk
Yield: 3 Cups
Ingredients
1/2 cup Oats
2 tablespoons Honey
3 cups Water
1 teaspoon Vanilla
Directions
1. Place all ingredients in a blender and blend until the oats have begun to break down and the mixture looks creamy - 20 to 30 seconds.
2. Pour the mixture through a sieve (or nut milk bag) into a bowl, being sure NOT to press the mixture down into the sides of the strainer as this can result in “slimier” oat milk. Use immediately or refrigerate for up to 4 days.
