Valentine’s Day is approaching (and National Pizza Day!) - celebrate the love of all things cheesy with this simple homemade heart-shaped pizza! This is a fun activity to do with your date or your family - and we promise it tastes so much better than delivery.

Heart-Shaped Pizza

PrepTime: 75 minutes

Cook Time: 12 minutes

Servings: 8

INGREDIENTS

For the dough:

6 cups AP flour

3 cups warm water (105-110 degrees F)

2 tbsp sugar (or 1 tbsp honey)

3 heaping tbsp yeast

6 tbsp olive oil

1 tbsp salt

For the pizza:

Shredded whole-fat mozzarella cheese

Pepperoni (or other preferred toppings)

Marinara or store-bought pizza sauce

DIRECTIONS

Prepare the dough:

  1. In a bowl combine the water at about 110 degrees F, sugar (or honey) and yeast. Stir gently and then let sit for 10 minutes until yeast blooms.

  2. In a large bowl or stand mixer, mix the olive oil, salt, flour and yeast mixture slowly until just combined. If dough feels too sticky add more flour*, and if the dough feels too dry add more oil. *Remember that you will be adding more flour when rolling the dough out, so don’t add too much at this stage.

  3. Cover and let rise for 30 to 60- minutes*. We recommend using a clear shower cap to cover the bowl, but plastic wrap also works well. *If you plan to let this sit overnight, after 60 minutes, shape the dough into a ball, recover, and place in the fridge. The dough will last 2 days in the fridge.

Prepare the Pizza!

  1. Preheat oven to 500 degrees F.

  2. Divide the dough into 4 sections and sprinkle down a little flour and roll into a circle.

  3. Shape the dough into a heart (we used a knife to cut the shape), then place on a baking sheet or pizza stone.

  4. Brush with a little olive oil and poke some holes into the dough with a fork.

  5. Add pizza sauce, cheese, and your preferred toppings.

  6. Bake at 500 degrees for 10-12 minutes. Check it periodically to ensure the cheese doesn’t burn. (Note - if using a stone, cut cooking time to 8 minutes)

  7. Cool and enjoy your festive Valentine’s Day Pizza!

Loved your article “Heart Pizza” the laid-back, fun approach to crafting a special treat really shines through. While preparing for an online exam about food science and nutrition, I considered whether I could Best Online Lab Help tools might assist me in analyzing experimental baking results more clearly. That curiosity led me to explore exam helper platforms which helped deepen my understanding without simply giving away answers.
