Steps: |
| -Clean the artichokes down to the heart according to the pictorials. (Learn How) |
| -Follow the steps to slice the heart and keep the slices in the lemon water.. (Learn How) |
| -Remove the favas from the pod if still intact. |
| -Bring 1/2 gallon of water to a boil to blanch the favas. |
| -When the favas are removed from the pod they still have and outer shell around them. |
| -Blanch the beans for 30 seconds and place in ice water. |
| -The outer shells can be peeled off of the bean easier. Peel all of the beans and set aside. |
| -Trim and slice the garlic whistles. |
| -Heat a large saute pan to medium high. Remove the artichoke slices from the water and dry on a towel. |
| -Add the oil to the saute pan and carefully place the artichokes in the pan. |
| -Saute the chokes, stirring to cook evenly, for three minutes or until tender. |
| -Add the garlic whistles and summer savory and saute another minute. |
| -Once the garlic has softened up, add the fava beans and season to taste. |
| -Cook just long enough to warm the fava beans and serve. |
