Ingredients:
2 cup(s) rice (jasmine)
3 cup(s) water
1 pinch kosher salt
Steps:
-Place the rice in a bowl. Run cool water into the bowl until the rice is covered.
-With your fingers, agitate the rice until the water becomes milky with starch.
-Drain the water and repeat the rinsing process 4-5 times until the water remains clear.
-Leave the clear addition of water in the bowl and soak the rice at room temperature for at least 30 minutes.
-Drain the rice in a hand strainer and shake any excess water out of the rice.
-Add the rice, salt and 3 cups of water to a pot. Be sure that the pot has a securely fitting lid.
-Place the pot on the stove over medium-high heat. Boil the rice to a boil, uncovered.
-Once the rice boils, turn the heat down to medium-low and cover the pot.
-Allow the covered pot to simmer 7-8 minutes. Do not remove the lid during this time.
-Remove the pot and allow it to sit, covered, for 5 minutes.
-Uncover the pot and fluff the rice with a fork.
