These are the standard cookies that you make to decorate. You can make the icing linked at the bottom
Ingredients:
1 cup(s) butter (unsalted) - room temperature
1 cup(s) sugar
1 egg
2 tablespoon(s) sour cream
1 teaspoon(s) pure vanilla extract
3 cup(s) flour (all-purpose)
1/2 teaspoon(s) salt (iodized)
1 teaspoon(s) baking powder
Steps:
-Beat the butter with the sugar until light and fluffy.
-Stir in the egg, sour cream, and vanilla; beat to combine.
-Sift the flour, salt and baking powder together, and slowly incorporate into the mix.
-Combine until a dough forms; divide into two disks, flatten and wrap in plastic. Chill for 3 hours.
-Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.
-Between two sheets of wax paper, roll out each disk a 1/4-inch thick.
-If the dough gets too warm while rolling out, keep in the wax paper and place in the freezer to chill.
-Cut with the desired cookie cutter shapes. Gather up the excess scraps and roll out again. Line the cookie sheet with parchment or a Silpat.
-Place the cookies on the cookie sheet (1 inch apart) and bake for 7-10 minutes. The baking time depends upon the size of the shape you cut.
-They will be a very light brown color when you pull them out.
