Apply this technique to any recipe calling for brown rice.
Ingredients:
2 tablespoon(s) olive oil
1 cup(s) brown rice
1 teaspoon(s) kosher salt
1 - bouquet garni - (bay leaf, thyme and parsley)
2 cup(s) - chicken stock (white)
Steps:
-Heat a 2-quart pot to medium and add the oil. Add the rice and stir to coat; slowly toast.
-Reduce the heat to low and stir the rice until it begins to crackle and smell aromatic, 2-3 minutes.
-Stir in the remaining ingredients and bring to a boil over high heat.
-Cover, reduce the heat to low and cook without stirring for 30-35 minutes.
-Rice should be cooked but not mushy; remove the bouquet garni and serve.
