Steps: |
| -Preheat oven to 425 degrees. |
| -Place berries in a lightly buttered 9 x 9-inch pan. |
| -In a medium bowl, mix first additions of sugar, flour, water and lemon juice. Pour over berries. |
| -Bake at 425 degrees for 15 minutes. |
| -Meanwhile, in a large bowl, mix second addition of flour, baking powder, salt and sugar. Cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse meal. |
| -Add the cream and buttermilk to flour mixture and lightly knead (4-5 times). |
| -Roll dough onto lightly floured surface and cut to fit on baking dish. |
| -Place crust on hot berries and brush with butter. |
| -Bake on 425 degrees for 25-30 minutes or until crust is golden brown. |
