1 cup of walnuts, pecans, or chocolate chips can be added to this recipe.
Ingredients:
1 cup(s) butter - softened
1 1/2 cup(s) sugar
1 egg
1/4 cup(s) water
1 vanilla extract
1 1/2 cup(s) flour (all-purpose)
1/2 teaspoon(s) baking soda
1/2 teaspoon(s) salt (iodized)
1/2 teaspoon(s) cinnamon (ground)
1/2 teaspoon(s) nutmeg (ground)
3 cup(s) oatmeal - quick-cooking, uncooked
Steps:
-Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
-In a large bowl, cream butter with hand mixer.
-Slowly add sugar and beat on medium speed until light and fluffy.
-Add the egg and beat well.
-Add water and vanilla and beat well.
-Add flour, soda, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg; mix.
-Stir in the oats and nuts.
-Drop dough by a heaping teaspoonful onto an ungreased cookie sheet. Place dough 2 inches apart.
-Bake at 350 degrees for 10-12 minutes.
-Cool slightly and tranfer to wire rack to continue cooling.
