Steps: |
| -Preheat oven to 375 degrees. |
| -With a mixer, beat egg whites until foamy. |
| -Add cream of tartar and salt, and beat until soft peaks form. |
| -Add sugar, 2 tablespoons at a time, beating until stiff peaks form. |
| -Sprinkle the flour onto the beaten egg whites. With a rubber spatula, fold flour gently into the egg whites. Fold in the vanilla. |
| -Pour mixture into an ungreased 10-inch tube pan. |
| -Bake at 375 degrees for 30-35 minutes or until cake springs back when lightly touched. |
| -Invert pan and let cool for 40 minutes. |
| -Loosen cake by using a thin knife around sides and remove. |
