Ingredients:
3 cup(s) milk (whole)
1 tablespoon(s) sugar
1 teaspoon(s) salt (iodized)
1 pinch black pepper
1 1/4 cup(s) cornmeal
3 eggs - beaten
1 tablespoon(s) baking powder
2 tablespoon(s) water
2 tablespoon(s) butter (unsalted) - melted, cooled
Steps:
-Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Butter a 7 x 11 casserole.
-In a small saucepan, heat milk, sugar, salt and pepper to a simmer.
-Add the cornmeal and continue cooking 5 minutes, stirring constantly.
-In a small bowl, stir together the eggs, baking powder, water and butter. Add slowly to cornmeal mixture.
-Immediately pour the entire batter into the prepared casserole.
-Bake at 400 degrees for 25-30 minutes until the spoon bread is set.
