Steps: |
| -Preheat oven to 350 degrees. |
| -Peel the skin of the bottom 1/3rd of the apple. |
| -Slice the bottoms of the apples to make them flat; place them in a 9 x 9-inch baking dish. |
| -In a small bowl, mix the sugar, cinnamon and raisins. |
| -Fill the inside of the apples evenly with sugar mixture; top mixture with 1 teaspoon of honey for each apple. |
| -Pour enough water in the pan to cover the bottom; place a piece of foil loosely over the apples. |
| -Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. |
| -Remove from the oven and remove foil. |
| -Place back in oven, uncovered, and bake until apples are tender throughout, about 20-30 more minutes. You can test the apples with a paring knife. |
| -Serve with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream. |
A 1/2 cup of walnuts can be added to the sugar mixture as well. |
