What am I??
I am a member of the family Alliacieae. I am a descendant of a plant found in Southwest Asia. I am known to have been consumed by Greek and Roman soldiers as well as laborers who built the Pyramid of Giza to keep up stamina. Clay reproductions of me were found in the tomb of King Tut. I am mentioned in the Bible. I have been used as currency. China is the largest producer of me per year; the United States only produces 2% of the world’s supply of me.
